Positioning an early-stage climate platform for scale, pilots, and future investment

outline

primary challenge

Restore Blue had a compelling environmental vision and early prototype, but needed to evolve from concept to a scalable, investor-ready platform. The challenge was to bring clarity across brand, product experience, technology, and narrative all while supporting pilot delivery and preparing for an upcoming funding round.

Supporting Pillars

  • Brand & Messaging
  • Product Experience (UX/UI)
  • Technical Architecture
  • Investor Narrative

Engagement Status: Ongoing

background

Restore Blue is an environmental technology platform focused on translating research and environmental data into actionable insights for climate resilience and restoration. Founder Sarah Cosgrove brought deep domain expertise and a strong point of view on environmental impact, but the platform itself was still at an early stage.

The initial connection was made when A&E founder Shannon Weber and Sarah Cosgrove were both invited to judge the EU Sparks for Climate Hackathon — an event designed to turn climate research into practical, real-world solutions. That shared context laid the foundation for a longer-term collaboration.

challenge

Restore Blue faced a familiar early-stage tension: strong purpose and vision, but fragmented execution.

Key challenges included:

  • A prototype that lacked cohesion across brand, UX, and narrative
  • A technology stack that was not yet suitable for scale or long-term trust
  • An investor story that didn’t fully articulate the opportunity or roadmap
  • No unified go-to-market or pilot strategy to support traction and learning

The priority was not rapid growth, but building the right foundations: technically, strategically, and narratively, before scaling.

solution

Discovery & Strategic Foundations

We began with a structured discovery phase, including a business needs analysis to understand Restore Blue’s ambition, constraints, and near-term priorities. This allowed us to align brand, product, and technical decisions to a realistic roadmap that supported pilots today and scale tomorrow.

Brand, Messaging & Narrative

A brand refresh and UX audit were undertaken to bring clarity and cohesion to how Restore Blue presented itself. The goal was not cosmetic change, but alignment ensuring the brand reflected the seriousness of the mission and the credibility required to engage partners, users, and investors.

From this work, we developed a clear brand story and messaging framework that articulated:

  • The problem Restore Blue is solving
  • The value of the platform at pilot and scale stages
  • The long-term impact and growth potential

This narrative now underpins all communications, from the website to investor materials.

Product Experience & Website

We redesigned the product UI to create a cleaner, more intuitive experience that could support real-world pilots. In parallel, a new website was designed and built to move Restore Blue beyond a basic landing page, providing a clear articulation of the platform, its use cases, and its ambition.

Investor Readiness

The investor pitch deck was reworked to align with the new narrative, clarifying:

  • The opportunity
  • The phased roadmap (pilots → scale → AI-driven capability)
  • The funding logic behind future feature development

This has supported Restore Blue as it prepares for its next funding round.

Technical Audit & Platform Rebuild

A Well-Architected Review identified structural limitations in the existing platform. Based on this, the system is currently being rebuilt on a more secure and scalable architecture, designed to support additional features, AI capability, and long-term user trust as the platform grows.

Go-to-Market & Pilots

Restore Blue has now completed two pilot projects and is preparing the next iteration of the platform, informed by real-world usage. In parallel, we are shaping the broader go-to-market and launch approach, including pilot storytelling and launch assets that demonstrate impact, not just functionality.

outcome

(in progress)

Restore Blue is now entering its next phase with:

  • A clear and credible brand foundation
  • A cohesive product and UX direction
  • A scalable technical architecture in progress
  • A refined investor narrative aligned to future funding
  • Live pilot learnings feeding directly into product development

The platform is better positioned to attract investment, partnerships, and long-term traction,  without compromising on purpose or technical integrity.

Go-to-Market & Pilots

This engagement reflects A&E’s role as a long-term strategic partner to purpose-led founders. The relationship has evolved as the company has grown, with:

  • Shannon Weber joining Restore Blue as a fractional strategist and advisor
  • Billy Einkamerer, Head of Tech Development at A&E, supporting the platform as fractional CTO
“This was one of those collaborations where everything just clicked – a founder with a powerful idea, the clarity to know what was needed, and the trust to let us shape the path forward. From brand to backend, this work is about building the infrastructure that allows meaningful ideas to scale.”
